Valle del Cauca Gets Ready to Take University Entrepreneurship to the International Stage
- 26 octubre, 2026
Fundación Universitaria María Cano’s Cali campus participated in the Third National Plenary of ASCUN’s University Entrepreneurship Network (REUNE), held on October 21–22, 2026, at Fundación Universitaria del Área Andina in Valledupar. The meeting brought together higher education institutions to exchange experiences, strengthen collaboration, and develop strategies to promote entrepreneurship and innovation within academia.
One of the plenary’s main outcomes was the unanimous selection of the Valle del Cauca Regional Node to host the 2027 International University Entrepreneurship Championship. This designation creates new opportunities to showcase the region’s entrepreneurial talent, strengthen cooperation among universities, and connect their initiatives with international platforms.

The sessions also addressed the progress and challenges of regional nodes, the network’s governance and sustainability, and the championship’s guidelines, categories, participation criteria, and evaluation mechanisms. These discussions aim to consolidate a shared agenda and promote university initiatives with the potential to generate meaningful impact.
The plenary also included discussions on the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), an international initiative that studies entrepreneurial activity and the conditions shaping its development. Participants identified opportunities to strengthen universities’ contributions to national entrepreneurship indicators and increase the visibility of their role in Colombia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Through its participation, María Cano continues to strengthen its connections with national academic networks and contribute to collaboration, innovation, and development. The selection of Valle del Cauca as the 2027 championship host offers an opportunity to showcase university talent and demonstrate how ideas born in academia can reach beyond borders.
