How is artificial intelligence transforming the engineering profession? This question was at the heart of a corporate visit by Fundación Universitaria María Cano to SoftServe on October 22. The international company, based in Medellín, specializes in digital engineering, software development, artificial intelligence, and technology consulting.

Led by the Faculty of Engineering, the visit brought together faculty members from engineering programs for discussions on the emerging skills required by industry and the ways artificial intelligence is reshaping software development, process automation, data analytics, and the creation of technological solutions.

The experience provided an opportunity to explore emerging trends and consider how academic programs can remain relevant, update teaching and learning strategies, and prepare students to meet the challenges of a constantly evolving industry.

The engagement also opened opportunities to explore collaborative initiatives with the business sector, including innovation projects, technology challenges, professional internships, and faculty development experiences that connect university learning with organizations’ real-world needs.

Through its Faculty of Engineering, María Cano continues to strengthen dialogue between academia and industry, promoting an educational approach that combines technical knowledge, critical thinking, creativity, and adaptability. Preparing the engineers of tomorrow also means connecting them with the environments where technology is transforming the world.
