María Cano and Community Police Join Efforts to Promote Early Childhood Well-Being in Neiva
- 14 septiembre, 2026
Fundación Universitaria María Cano, Neiva campus, continues to strengthen its commitment to community development through initiatives that promote health, well-being, and the protection of children and adolescents. In this context, the University participated in a working session alongside the Community Police to coordinate a health outreach program aimed at children and young people from vulnerable neighborhoods across the city of Neiva.
The initiative seeks to create spaces for care, prevention, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles, contributing to the overall well-being of children and adolescents. Through this event, participants will take part in activities designed to encourage self-care, strengthen life skills, and foster safe and supportive environments.
During the health outreach program, educational activities focused on self-care and healthy living will be carried out. In addition, hearing screenings and cardiovascular risk assessments will be offered, allowing for the early identification of potential health concerns that may affect participants’ quality of life.
The event will also include recreational, educational, and integration activities aimed at supporting motor development, strengthening interpersonal relationships, and creating opportunities for learning, participation, and healthy recreation.
The initiative will take place within the framework of a Values Festival, a strategy designed to promote principles that strengthen coexistence and community building. Love, respect, service, solidarity, and teamwork will serve as the foundation of a day intended to generate a positive impact on participating children, families, and communities.
The collaboration between Fundación Universitaria María Cano and the Community Police highlights the importance of partnerships between academia and territorial institutions in addressing social needs and developing actions that contribute to collective well-being.
Through initiatives such as this, Fundación Universitaria María Cano reaffirms its commitment to social outreach, health promotion, and human development, contributing to the creation of healthier, more inclusive, and participatory communities where children play a central role in processes of social transformation.
