What is Specialization in Physical Activity?
The Fundación Universitaria María Cano at the Neiva campus offers the Specialization in Physical Activity program to train specialists in Physical Activity capable of designing and managing projects that address the needs of a region, while simultaneously generating positive outcomes in health, thus achieving transformations and changes that promote the social development of the country and overall health.
The program allows its graduates to be recognized as those who direct their actions, interventions, studies, and knowledge towards understanding physical activity and its relationship with health, recreation, training, and sports processes. Graduates will be recognized as specialists in physical activity, enabling them to take an integrated approach to topics related to physical activity and its relationship with health, training, sports, culture, and recreation.

Graduates of the Specialization in Physical Activity program at the Fundación Universitaria María Cano are characterized by being supportive, autonomous, ethical specialists with critical and creative thinking, strong communication skills, and a social commitment and «glocal» vision that allows them to be agents of change, participating democratically and responsibly in the transformation processes of their specialization and the community in which they intervene.
Specialists in Physical Activity will be able to contribute to improving the quality of life of individuals, families, and communities by applying knowledge related to physical activity that impacts cultural, social development, and human health.
Therefore, graduates of the Specialization in Physical Activity program will be able to:
• Design and manage projects that promote physical activity through health, recreation, management, and sports training, contributing to the improvement of health and well-being in various public and private sectors.
• Lead the creation and development of policies and strategies for physical activity that allow the construction of healthy environments in different population sectors, fostering creative spaces.
• Participate in the formulation and execution of research projects within the field of physical activity to support the management of cultural processes, sports, and recreation.
Addressed to
The applicant for the Specialization in Physical Activity at the Fundación Universitaria María Cano must have undergraduate training in Physiotherapy, Medicine, Nutrition, Nursing, and other health-related professions, graduated at a national level (Physical Therapy in the case of having a foreign degree), as well as graduates in Physical Education, Recreation, and Sports, and related fields; and must meet the requirements of the current Academic and Disciplinary Regulations. Additionally, they should possess a socio-humanistic, ethical, and responsible mindset, with a desire to research and collaborate, as well as manage activities within communities.
Graduates of the Specialization in Physical Activity will be able to work in:
• The private and government sectors, in entities related to health, sports, physical culture, and recreation, as project managers in physical activity.
• As sports instructors in entities related to physical activity and sports.
• Institutions and organizations offering physical activity programs to the community, as coordinators of physical activity and sports programs.
• The educational sector, both public and private, as instructors in undergraduate and postgraduate programs in areas related to their specialization.
