What is Specialization in Sports Physiotherapy?
The specialization proposal presented by the María Cano University Foundation is oriented towards a specific area of knowledge, such as Sports Physiotherapy, and makes it easier for physiotherapists to participate in the process of training, acquiring and developing skills that allow problem solving or the analysis of particular situations related to sports practice.
The intention of the Specialization in Sports Physiotherapy of the María Cano University Foundation is to train expert physiotherapists in a specific field, with the capacity to offer efficient and quality alternatives, allowing them in the different processes the possibility of designing, evaluating, implementing, promoting and disseminating prevention programs to reduce the appearance of sports injuries, establishing a cine-anthropometric evaluation of the sporting gesture through the use of new sports technologies, proposing and carrying out a treatment for the special dysfunctions of athletes that tend to reduce high incidence of injuries that are generated in them, with the capacity to facilitate sports rehabilitation processes, through new trends in sports rehabilitation; forging participatory actions that lead our graduates to make decisions for changes and create new opportunities in the current context.

The Sports Physiotherapy Specialist of the María Cano University Foundation will have the opportunity to work in public or private sports-related entities at a national or regional level, sports clubs, physical conditioning centers, interdisciplinary sports science teams, specialized in sports, and may carry out actions related to:
• Sports rehabilitation
• Creation of epidemiological surveillance systems
• Approach to public policies in sports physiotherapy
• Physioprophylactic action plans
• Analysis of the sports gesture
• Evaluation of the athlete in different contexts
• Use of technologies in sport
• Ability to participate in research in the sports area.
Addressed to
Physiotherapists (physical therapy or kinesiology in case of having a foreign degree) and physiotherapy students in the last semesters, in addition to having a socio-humanistic, ethical and responsible sense. Likewise, who has a willingness to work in a team, vocation of service.

• Coordinator and/or leader in epidemiological surveillance system programs in sports.
• Coordinator of planning and design processes of sports physiotherapy care programs
• Leader in the development and execution of research, teaching and innovation projects in sports physiotherapy.
• Health professional who participates in interdisciplinary teams for the area of sports physiotherapy in sports entities of any level.
• Specialist physiotherapist who plans, executes and implements sports physiotherapy programs in sports entities of any level.
• Physiotherapist specialized in sports physiotherapy in sports entities of any level with different populations throughout the life cycle.
• Researcher in development projects in health promotion, disease prevention and rehabilitation, both for governmental and non-governmental entities, related to the field of sports physiotherapy.

Admission Requirements Undergraduate Programs

To enter any of the undergraduate programs offered by María Cano, the new applicant must complete the following procedure:
- Fill out the online registration form
- Make the payment of undergraduate registration fees $213.022
- At the end of the registration form, upload to the platform the following documents one by one (in PDF format) as indicated at the end:
- Photocopy of the high school degree certificate or diploma, if you have not yet completed grade 11, original study certificate, issued by the school valid for no more than one month.
- Results of the ICFES tests (Saber 11), if you do not have the results you can attach the citation to the test.
- A legible photocopy of the identity document (enlarged).
- A 3×4 size photo, light blue background.
- Documents are not received physically unless required during the admission process.
- Print the registration payment form at the end of online registration or make payment through PSE.
